Description
Description
Designed in Melbourne
Walmer Bars are designed to service the rigours and demands of rugged gravel and off-road bikepacking. No handlebar on the market was the right width or shape, so we decided to create our own.
Bikepacking Heaven
Originally intended to complement the new GMX+ bikepacking platform, Walmer Bars also work with any gravel bike or off-road beast. Walmer Bars bring the stability and control of MTB bars combined with the multiple hand positions of drop bars. The extra width also offers more storage space for bar mounted bags, lights, navigation etc.
Why Wide Drop Bars?
The ability to change hand position regularly prevents pressure and tension build up, and helps minimise numbness and blisters. A wider handlebar also offers more stability and control, particularly when descending sketchy terrain on a loaded bike. It also gives added leverage when tackling technical climbs.
Question
Dion –
Hey Guys! Just wondering whether longer bar tape is needed for the wider options (550), and if so do you stock it? Also, do you find that a wider bar install requires adjustments to shifter cable and brake line lengths? Cheers!

Depending on what handlebars you are currently rocking and frame size, would definitely require some degree of alteration on the cabling, In terms of tape, the bar tape comes with the bars and is therefore suitable for use with the size purchased.

Kev (verified owner) –
Upgraded from stock 40cm on my Merida Silex to Walmer 55cm. Its like a whole different bike, stability and confidence on the descents and the rough stuff as you’d expect, but the ‘out of the seat climbs’ are so much better now too. My bikepacking handlebar rollbag can finally be fully packed and not interfere with the brake/gear levers.
Oh and service….Ordered these bars online on a Friday afternoon, they arrived Monday morning in regional Victoria (Bright)

Question
Stuart Potter –
Could you tell me the width of the 31.8 clamp area on the 46cm bars? Thanks

Adam Macbeth –
Pretty narrow, around 50mm. If you want a much wider section we’d suggest looking at the Spank bars as they are 31.8 all the way to the hoods.
