These bars may look unconventional but the bottom line is that they flat out provide better handling and more comfort over a traditional bar. Better hand and body positions ensure more power, comfort and control. The “Loop” H-Bar has the same hand, stem and brake lever position as the original H-Bar but the cross bar sweeps forward to allow the levers to go behind the cross bar instead of in front.
This gives longer uninterrupted hand positions and will allow trigger and grip/twist shifters to fit on the rearward extensions (unlike the original H-bar and the Cut H-bar). The continuous front loop of the bar enhances stiffness and is good for additional aero hand positions and mounting lights, GPS devices etc. Comfort and power and an impressive weight. With the levers in the optimum position the rider is superbly placed for fast riding while still enjoying all the hand positions available. The rearward extensions allow extra leverage and a wider hand position - be it for comfort or power.
All H-bars are for a 31.8 stem – the cross tube is now tapered and butted with a 31.8 mm clamp area. The grip tubes on the aluminum version are also butted for strength, and weight savings. Great for; Singlespeeds, 29ers, Fat Bikes, Touring, Bike-packing Adventures, City Riding and more! Width: 710mm centre to centre Sweep: 45 degree Rise: 0.5 inch / 12mm Weight: 516g with bar plugs Compatible with; Singlespeeds, Trigger shifters, Gripshift, Shimano twist shifters, Rohloff and above the bar hinged thumb-shifters.
Jeff has heard from a lot of riders who need to get their bars higher in order to get more comfort and control, and while Jeff’s framesets and bikes make this easy, many riders are installing H-Bars on other brands of bikes with a normal, lower stack height with a lower overall intended bar height.
For them, and everyone else who wants to get their bars higher, we have the Butted 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bar! Think of the 2.5” as an alternative to a 2″ stack of headset spacers combined with a standard .5”/13mm rise H-Bar. This H-Bar is essentially a butted loop H-Bar with 2.5″ of rise compared to the standard .5″ of rise on all of the other H-Bars which makes it ideal for bikes with front ends that are too low. Do you have a bike with a short head tube? Your back and neck want this bar! Are you wondering if it’s safe to install a steerer tube extender on a steerer tube? Get this H-Bar and you won’t need to find out. Having this higher handlebar with more hand positions will make you much more comfortable.
Jones aluminum H-Bars come in two tubing types; butted or straight gauge (SG). Our butted H-bars are double butted meaning the tubing has two different thicknesses, thicker at the joints for strength and thinner elsewhere to reduce weight. Straight gauge tubing is the same thickness throughout which reduces cost but increases weight.
The Jones Butted 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bar shares the same comfortable 45 degree sweep, black or silver color options, 710mm width, 31.8mm clamp diameter, and standard 22.2mm grip area diameter for flat bar/mountain bike controls as with the rest of the H-Bars. The entire front loop has a 22.2mm diameter.
We get a lot of questions about whether this H-Bar will work with the Loophole H-Bar Pack and H-Bar pack, and the answer is yes! The pack fits less tightly, and will be tilted on this H-Bar, but from our experience, it works just fine.
The Jones Butted 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bar weighs approximately 525 grams, and is about 165 grams lighter than the SG 2.5 Aluminum Loop H-Bar 710mm, making the bar a great way to keep weight down and have great comfort and handling.
