The Monkey Bone is an IS to PM adapter that allows the installation of a disc brake system with a Postmount disc brake caliper on a frame with (IS) disc brake mount in conjunction with a Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14. Therefore, only one adapter is needed for the installation. This brings on the one hand a weight savings and on the other hand, this ensures a neat appearance on the rear triangle. In addition, possible collisions with other attachments, such as the luggage rack or fender struts are avoided. The Monkey Bone is available through the dealer directly from Rohloff for Disc 160mm (#8553) and for Disc 180mm (#8554).

Description

To use a Monkey Bone, you need:

  • a SPEEDHUB 500/14 equipped with OEM2 axle plate
  • a disc brake mount to international standard (IS2000)
  • a post mount disc brake caliper (PM)
  • the right Monkeybone for 160mm or 180mm brake discs

The Monkey Bone is not compatible with:

  • IS caliper
  • Frame with integrated / direct postmount disc brake
  • Frame with disc holder on the chainstay
